Description

The Fall. The Book of Genesis.
This story is one of the most well known stories to man. The story of the fall of the first humans on this planet...and the beggining of all mankind. So many theologists and people have interpretations of what happened. Milleniums have so many renditions and spoofs to the event that started the un-connection to God. But what can you see?
What was the Knowledge of Good and Evil? Darkness, Pride, Strife, Lying, Back-Biting, Gossip, Lust, Theft, Murder. The ending and good news was that the fate of this was altered when we were saved by Jesus. We then all recieved grace, love, hope, life, spirit, and truth.

In my personal relationship, I have groomed the revelation of this several times to get a good representational conclusion. I illustrated this scene with more of a focus on the characters and less on the garden. The garden actually was several thousands of miles long. Having four rivers among it. In the midst was the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. The fruit, in Eve's hand, is initially colored a matte dark-blue green color. Blue is usually a symbol of spirit and revelation and green usually means life. But, the fruit itself was not just fruit, I believe it was the spirit of darkness from the tree that corrupted the purity of God's first children. So in achieveing a believable shot, I painted dark and white whisps around the fruit...that resemble the winds of the spirit that flowed from it light and dark. The python, represents the devil, and the man faded in the background of course represents Adam. I believe Eve was gorgeous, being pure in the heart and conscious, and not flawed by age. Having grazed upon the finest crops and foods with perfect love having no fear. Her image was the glory of the man...Adam as Eve was very handsome, but strong and subjective as he was the glory of God. I wanted to show the emotion of Adam as eve initially took the fruit. Because the initial touch was the sin. We see him in the back like "Girl, what are you doing?"
When you see this picture what do you see? What do you feel? What places your eye...and does your eye match instinctively to your heart?
It is so many different elements to this story that this has took a whopping two months to finish.

Very nice rendering, although I think it could use a little more depth to it, everything seems kind of crunched together here. Maybe have more of the tree, both for more room and so we can see where the serpent is attached.

Thank you so much.
I will work on another version with the tree. However, I made it not as deep because of the story focus (Eve and the apple). But , I soo...appreciate the comments, I really do. Daykan, you always reply to me with good comments and I thank you so much.

Well I like the image a lot, but not so much with what you wrote. According to the vast majority (maybe all) of commentaries, the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil didn't change their personalities or anything like that, it changed their perception of the world. Before they ate from the tree they saw everything in terms of true and false. This is a difficult concept to explain, especially in such a limited format as this, but basically, all choices were easy when they had this perception, they were able to see the true consequences of any act, in full, so there was no reason to do the wrong thing.
Also, the fruit definitely wasn't an apple, its actually debated whether it was a grape, because all evil comes about through wine, wheat (bread actually), because speech comes after a child starts eating grains, or a citron (the proof to which is that Eve smelled the tree, which is described in the bible as having the same smell as its fruit).
You were right about one thing, Adam and Eve were the best looking people ever. They were man and woman as they were meant to be, as G-d originally intended.
While from a factual point of view (although our religions differ "slightly", so I can't really blame you for having a different say in this) I don't think it happened this way, from an artists point of view this is really, really awesome. Even though you can't see the expression on Adam's face, you know what it is anyway. The positioning of the snake, as well as the curious look of innocence on Eve's face, are just perfect for this image. Excellent work, 7/7

Thanks so much for the comment. What you said has some validity. Ill give a little further background.

It did change their perception of the world yes...but it had to change more than their perspective. A perspective is the way you look at something. Your personality is your total being and character. If it was merely perspective Eve was done for before she even ate the fruit. Because doubt, in her perspective allowed the snake further persuasion.
I have to disagree with all evil comes through bread and wine.- Because Leviticus clearly states that there were several unclean animals and things that were unclean by their blood. This was the reason that many sacrifices were not offered unto lame animals or lepers went through so much to be clean because of the blood of the things they ate or even touched. It could have been a grape and I have seen other artists illustrate this as so. My illustration is not to focus on what kind of fruit it is the essence of what the fruit represents -=WISDOM=-. The truth behind Eve's deception was to gain more wisdom, when in all , she had the truest and purest of all knowledge and wisdom from the beginning. I love your argument. However, if we clearly take note that food is the reason that lead to the downfall of man...I think we have God mistaken. Because he gave alll the rest of the garden including the animals to Adam. The key portion to examine is....what was part of the Fruit that the snake would comment...You shall be as a God as well. Thats not fruit.
Food makes us fat not a deity. Regardless, the big picture is BELIEVE GOD. from the start..Rebellion or thinking that we no more and in our own mind we know what is right leads to death.

Actually, "unclean" in scripture doesn't mean evil, it refers to a spiritual purity that is independent of "good" or "bad." It just means something unsuitable for an offering. Death isn't evil, and yet one who touches a dead body is considered ritually unlean unless sprinkled with the water that has the ashes of a red cow in it. The talmud states that wine is the root of all evil in that it leads man to do evil, not that it is inherently so, and it doesn't say that at all about bread, the idea that it was wheat comes from the idea that a baby learns to speak only after it starts eating grains. The reason Eve was seduced into eating the fruit was because of Adam's mistake of telling her that G-d said that if she so much as touched the tree she would die. When the snake pushed her into the tree and she lived, she figured that what Adam had told her about eating the fruit must also not be true. Food isn't here to make us fat, its here for us to enjoy in moderation, just like everything else thats here (with a few exceptions). Everything that exists can help a person get closer to G-d if used properly.

Wow....thats quality information.
You know..instead of me trying to prove a point. I think the majority of the indifferences are....No matter what we can argue in perspective are we doing what we are told by command. I think the differing situation of it all is that many theologians know perspectives, but don't follow it. I am going to look up that on the Talmud...thats great information. I believe that we can agree with the spiritual rights of sacrifices---Now the interpretation iono...but if there is a principle that you received helped you get to to God through Jesus...Amen.

Adam didn't make a mistake either...Eve was supposed to know all that Adam knew because in marriage that is spiritual order...of God to man - man to women..The woman is the church and the man is the head of the woman.
..1st Corinthians 11 chapter.

Great speaking with you and stay in touch you have some good points...

Well I'm Jewish, so I haven't found Jesus, and probably won't ever (no offense). Adam DID make a mistake, I'm not really sure where you got that idea of marriage from, but she basically knew what he told her when it came to the tree. I mean, technically we've been studying the bible for about a thousand years longer than you have, right? ;)
Seriously though, I've never really heard of a case of a Jew and a Christian agreeing on a point in the bible, so there's no real point in arguing.
It was interesting, keep up the artwork, even if we disagree on religion, you're still a great artist.
